Ride with Australia's golden girl - Anna Meares

This is your chance to ride alongside dual Olympic Gold Medalist, ten-time World Champion and five-time Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist, Anna Meares as part of Canberra's premier community cycling event, Amy's Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015.

Starting at Rond Terrace, where Anzac Parade meets Parkes Way on the northern foreshore of Lake Burley Griffin, the ride is for all ages and abilities with distances ranging from 20km to 120km and difficulty levels suited to beginners all the way through to the competitive cyclist.

“I love nothing more than seeing the excitement on kid’s faces when they ride their bike and experience the sense of freedom that only riding a bike can provide," said Anna Meares - Uvex Ambassador .

"I encourage all Canberrans to join me in taking part in Amy’s Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015 in support of the Amy Gillett Foundation and Pedal Power’s push to create a safer cycling environment."

The whole family is invited too! Amy's Big Canberra Bike Ride provides a safe, enjoyable day for the bike riding community with entertainment and activities running in the Event Village where family and friends can relax as they wait for their rider to cross the finish line.

Support the Amy Gillett Foundation

Amy's Big Canberra Bike Ride 2015 supports the important work of the Amy Gillett Foundation, a charity with one purpose - reducing the incidence of death and injury of bike riders.

The Foundation was born out of tragedy, the death of Amy Gillett, who was hit and killed by an out-of-control motorists whilst cycling with her national teammates in Germany. Since the Foundation's inception it has been a catalyst for change, focused on what should be rather than what was.

That's why the Foundation has set ambitious aims and outcomes:
Mission: safe cycling in Australia
Vision: zero bike rider fatalities

Riders are encouraged to fundraise in the lead up to Amy's Big Canberra Bike Ride to help the Amy Gillett Foundation achieve this mission and vision.
